Leukemia represents the third most common malignancy in males in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Cancer Registry Report, published 2007). The overall agenda of the Leukemia Research Group (LRG) is to understand the biological mechanisms involved in leukemia and how these mechanisms can be exploited to develop and test new therapies.

Research in the LRG is moving from single gene mutation detection approach to genomic and multi-parametric evaluation with the use of high throughput techniques, use of cellular and animal models of leukemia in characterizing the detected mutations, proteomics and miRNA analysis. CEGMR is collaborating with internationally recognized groups working on adult leukemia.
