Abstract : The study aimed to identify the optimism and pessimism and their relationship to the trend towards self and self-esteem and approbation social among a sample of students from the College of Education for Girls in Jeddah study sample consisted of 150 student and researcher used measure of optimism and pessimism scale trend toward self also used statistical methods appropriate study found the following results and correlation between each of the positive optimism and self-confidence and the trend towards self and social approbation and a negative correlation between each of pessimism and self-confidence and the trend towards self and social approbation.
