Abstract : International law deals with several issues, the most important of which is human rights. Recently, many international treaties and conventions have raised awareness of these rights, especially for certain groups of people whose rights have been violated, such as children. This study addresses children because they are the future generation and are the most vulnerable to human rights violations. The study begins with the definition of the concept of “the child” in linguistic, legal, and juridical terms - 'from the point of view of the law'. The study also focuses on UNICEF as it is one of the main international organizations responsible for the promotion and protection of the rights of the child, where its basic principles, sustainable development goals and main achievements are discussed. The study then examines the international conventions that deal with the rights of the child, such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child, issued by the United Nations in 1989, the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child 1990, and others. We then refer to the Committee on the Rights of the Child as part of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989), and we highlight the international cooperation between UNICEF and other international bodies, such as UNESCO and the World Health Organization. Finally, the analytical approach was used to analyze the situation of children in some developing countries, namely Nigeria and Somalia, where efforts led by UNICEF were discussed. As a result, despite the efforts of UNICEF, the human rights situation for children is still poor, children still suffer from food shortages, hunger, and lack of vaccinations that could protect them from common diseases, as well as some other unfulfilled rights. Among the main recommendations this study arrived at was that UNICEF should launch more global campaigns to raise funds to be distributed to developing countries to enable children to enjoy all their rights.
