Abstract : The oral administration of RO 15-9268 (12.5 mg/kg body weight) to Schistosoma manson- infected mice 7 wk post exposure to cercariae (120 cercariae/ mouse) led to a significant reduction in worm burden ( 89.80%) in liver and portomesentric veins concurrent with a hepatic shift at the 2nd wk post treatment followed by complete dis appearance of worms, 4 wk post-medication. The infection-induced increments in the activities of serum ASAT, ALAT and ALP were markedly reduced after the treatment with RO 15-9268 indicating the recovery of hepatic tissue post-stopping of ova position and eradication of parasite.When normal animals were administered RO 15-9268, no significant alterations were observed in the activities of serum ASAT, ALAT or ALP through 6 wk post treatment. This may indicate that RO-15-9268 in its chosen dosage level has no deleterious effects on liver tissue
