Abstract : Didehydropeptides I (Ar = Ph, 4-MeOC6H4, 4-MeC6H4, 4-ClC6H4, 4-O2NC6H4, 3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl) underwent a regioselective 1,3-dipolar cycloaddn. reaction with benzonitrilium N-phenylimide PhC.tplbond.N+N-Ph (II) to give cycloadducts III. I were obtained by the ring cleavage of (Z)-oxazolones IV or (E)-oxazolones V with H-Gly-OEt.HCl in the presence of Et3N in DMF. II was generated in situ from PhC(:NNHPh)Cl by treatment with Et3N.
