Abstract : The cycloaddn. of the ethoxycarbonylformonitrile N-arylimides [i.e., [(phenyl)hydrazono]chloroacetic acid Et esters] I (R = H, bromo, methyl) to benzylideneacetone gave two regioisomers, 5-acetyl- and 4-acetyl-dihydropyrazoles. However, the cycloaddn. of I to benzoylacetone gave 4-acetyl- and 4-benzoyl-pyrazole. Some pyrazolopyridazin-7-one and pyrazolopyridazine derivs. were also synthesized.
