Abstract : Condensation of diarylmethylidenecyclopentanes with hydrazine, hydroxylamine, and thiourea derivs. afford the corresponding fused pyrazoles, oxazoles, and pyrimidines. E.g., reaction of diarylmethylidenecyclopentanes I (Ar = Ph, p-MeOC6H4) with RNHNH2 (R = Me, Ph, p-ClC6H4, p-H2NSO2C6H4) gave cyclopentanopyrazoles II.
